Oudney's Studios to launch Yes Media online-only sites.


The online media house is launching online-only editions to bulk up its digital audience and advertising revenues. The online sites will debut in the second quarter of 2015. The company is looking at other African nations, including Ghana, Kenya and Botswana, said Oudney Patsika, chief executive of Yes Media a subsidiary of Oudney's Studios.

“We want to be the largest online information brand in the world,” he said of the online company which he started in December 2014. Yes Media is hiring local editors.

Yes Media’s international push comes as owner Oudney's Studios invests heavily in digital operations . Oudney's Studios through Yes Media is revamping the websites of its online magazines, including Musvo, Gossip Panda, Real Zim News, Chitown DotComs, Trends Magazine, Salvation Press News, This Week, Sekuru Nhova, Preachers Of Zimbabwe to make them more appealing to smartphone readers.

Yes Media's magazine websites drew 1.5m unique visitors, according to Google Analytics figures provided by the company. “We’re starting to become a large provider of digital audiences,” Mr Oudney said.
The online growth is welcome news for Oudney's Studios, which, has made a strategic realisation that the traditional print business will erode rapidly in the next 5 to 10 years.
